1982

The Company was formed by Harry and Eileen Coar and was based on Preston's Cattle Market in premises previously occupied by Gibsons of Garstang.

1985

We Employed our first Van Salesman Brian Davies, to cover the local area and a month later our first Delivery Driver Shaun Reid. Both employee's are still with our company.

1986

Embraced new technology when we invested in our first computer system, meaning that we no longer had to write our invoices by hand.

1987

Were made the Alfa Laval Agri main agents for Lancashire taking the dealership over from Dairy Services who were based in Walton Summit and subsequently employed our first Dairy Engineer Chris Moorby who had worked for Dairy Services.

1988

Employed our second Van Salesman John Broadbent, to further expand our area to cover the whole of Lancashire, John stayed with the company until he retired in 2002.

1989

Adam Coar, Harry and Eileen's son joined the family company after spending two years working on a local farm.

1990

Became the Deosan Dairy Hygiene main agents for the area and are now the Premier Distributor for the North of England.

1994

Installed the areas first Alfa Laval Rotary Milking Parlour at Sand Villa Farm in Cockerham.

1997

Expanded further into South Lancashire and North Manchester when Roy Stafford & John Alderson joined our sales team from Tom Grays (Bolton) Ltd with their service engineer Neil Shutt.

1998

It was a remarkable year for Coar Farm Supplies Ltd when we were named National Dealer of the Year by Alfa Laval Agri, in recognition of our achievements with regard to the sales and service of Alfa Laval milking parlours and equipment.

2002

There were big changes when we moved from our premises of 20 years to a larger site on Green Lane West in Garstang due to outgrowing our shop and warehouse and also the re-development of the Cattle Market for housing.

2007

On March 1st 2007 we celebrated 25 years as the areas premier Country Store and on March 1st we shortened our name to Coars and adopted a new logo to promote a fresh outlook for the future. We also moved from our premises on Green Lane West to a new larger, improved store just next door. The move was needed to cope with the expansion of the business into a modern customer friendly Country Store able to contend with the needs of the farmer, upon whom we have built our business, and the demands of the general public.

2009

Sold our first Delaval VMS, (Robotic) Voluntary Milking System to Rose Farm, Hambleton. Since then numerous other farms have invested in this exciting new technology.

2010

Expanded further into the county of Yorkshire by taking on a branch at Northallerton that was previously run by Delaval. We called this new branch Coars (NE) Ltd. and took on its existing three employees Allan Laverick a salesman and two experienced engineers, Jon Trenholme and Brian Eves.

2011

Coars (NE) Ltd. moved from its original premises to a new larger store at Leeming Bar, Northallerton and also doubled its number of staff by employing three new employees including Jonathan Brown, an experienced salesman and Dave Donaldson as a delivery driver.
